The MC440E (Extended) is a Class A transformer-less large diaphragm condenser microphone with two switchable polar pattern. Upon ordering it can be specified as cardioid and figure of eight or cardioid and omnidirectional. The MC440E uses the same 33 mm capsule as the MC416 but features a new electronic design that provides an extended frequency response from 5 Hz to 35 kHz and a very low self noise of 4 dB-A. It has a two position switchable low-cut filter (70 Hz and 120 Hz). The heated capsule allows operation in extreme climatic conditions, with humidity or low temperatures, down to – 30 degrees celsius. The capsule is internally shock-mounted. The microphone body is made of brass with a non reflective dark grey finish on an epoxy base to guarantee durability and a 3 layer metallic grille protects the capsules from electrical and atmospheric interference and contamination from microscopic dust particles. Matched stereo pairs are available. The microphone comes in a wooden box.
