Common name: Microtech Gefell UMT 70 S

Production Status: In production

The UMT 70 S is a transformer-less (Transformatorlose) large diaphragm switchable (Umschaltbar) multi-pattern condenser microphone (Mikrofon). It uses an M7 gold-plated dual diaphragm (PVC) capsule with a single brass backplate. The polar patterns can be switched between omnidirectional, cardioid and figure of eight. The microphone is ideal for vocal, instrument, voiceovers, radio and television broadcasting applications. It is fairly uncoloured with the omnidirectional pattern showing a 2 dB rise around 10.5 kHz and a flat bass while the cardioid and bidirectional polar patterns exhibit a 4 dB presence boost around 7 kHz. This transformer-less version substitutes the previous transformer-equipped one (UM 70 S). The microphone features a 10 dB attenuation pad and a 90 Hz, -10dB bass roll-off. Includes wooden case. The data provided in the main description relates to the cardioid pattern.
