The KU4 is a contemporary realisation of the KU3A unidirectional ribbon microphone. The KU3A borrowed the classic R44 ribbon and suppressed the rear loabe to give a supercardioid pattern and less proximity effect. The KU4 adds neodymium magnets to give improved output. The ultra-low mass ribbon has low tension, and a response that reaches beyond 20kHz with no mid/upper range ringing.
